Firstly, if you plan on living in the dorms create an alternative plan immediately. The dorms are gross, out-dated, and if anything breaks plan on fixing it yourself or waiting a week for maintenence to come. Also, if you plan on having friends visit that are not HPU students expect a thorough backround check and strip search. It is harder to get on this campus than some military bases I would imagine. The campus life is non-exsistent, weekends consist of sitting around actually looking forward to the coming school week. I was fortunate enough to have a boyfriend whom had a car which allowed me to escape this place as much as possible. Hands down, the worst aspect of this college are the dining facilities. There is ONE dining hall in which you are forced to eat the gross, bug- infested food. The health department has been here twice already and found HPU in violation of many health and sanitary codes. The bathrooms are simply disgusting. In terms of the actual academics, HPU is not bad. The professors are interesting and intriguing, although you will have the occasional know-it-all professor, constantly bragging about the PhD they claim they have and the imeasurable amount of brilliance they posses. I transferred from a college in Ohio and moved to Hawaii to be with my boyfriend, so needless to say I had little choice in regards to universities. I am planning on moving back to Ohio and completing my degree there. My advice to anyone seeking a social life and the "college feel" of a real institution is to seek education else where.
