Tufts is a truly unique combination of a small, liberal arts college, and a large, resourceful research university. Because Tufts is the smallest research university in the country, with only 4800 students, it provides incredible opportunities to begin one on one research with faculty as early as freshman year. Also, with a student/faculty ratio of just 9/1, Tufts rivals even the smallest colleges as far as the attention that each student receives in the classroom. Other than introductory courses, which are usually no larger than 100-150 students, it is very uncommon to be in a course with more than 15 or 20 students. Another exceptional attribute of the school is the student body. Everyone here is incredibly nice and outgoing, and there is a great deal of school spirit, seen through the various Tufts gear sported every day. Students here are happy, and with the enthusiastic people that we encounter everyday, it is hard to feel otherwise. It is also very easy to keep busy with the 150+ student organizations available, including everything from the award-winning daily newspaper, to our very own Simpsons group, "The No Homers Club".
