William and Mary is an interesting school that is probably better for some people than others. If you are relatively wealthy, go to church, want to join a greek org, and generally dislike liberals/minorities/poor people then this is the place for you. If you get angry when students hold anti-affirmitive action bakesales, use stupid stereotypes and vote for george bush because their parents tell them to… then you might want to go somewhere else.

Academically, william and mary is very rigorous and generally excellent. Every professor that I have had has been amazing, and my writing has improved immensely.

Socially, you have to go greek if you want to do anything social (or you could play a sport). The alcohol policy is too strict, but there is always alcohol to be had if you know where to look. Williamsburg is a pretty dull town. Also the school is really small, and since so many lame people come here, you will see the same 600 or so people out ALL the time. You will know everyone's name and greek affiliation by sophomore year. Also—the ratio of ugly to attractive people is painfully high.

This isnt the worst college… and it isnt the best either. I am a firm believer that college is what you make of it. It sucks here, but I think that you can still make friends and have a decent time. Would I transfer if it wasn't too late? Yes. Do I hate this place? No. Think hard before you come here. (unless you are a republican who has never consumed alcohol and will be content playing video games and doing model UN in all of your spare time… then you will fit in PERFECTLY.) (PS—If you are from the north, and don't know about WM's reputation of lameness, COME VISIT a few times to make sure you pin down the vibe correctly)

Responses
responseAs a fellow William and Mary student, I strongly support this comment. I'm strongly considering transfering out. Everyone here is so… docile. The "coolest" kids all have no idea how to have a good time. Go Greek or die trying here if you want to have fun on the weekends.
