Coming from a situation where I was working sometimes two jobs and trying to go to school at the same time, living on Purchase College is like being on a cruise. But for that matter, living on any campus would be like a cruise. That's where the real positives stop. Most of the living conditions on the campus are crappy - luckily for me I was able to go straight to the apartments because I'm over 22 yrs. old. Otherwises, the dorms are below average to average and the Old Apartments are like slums. There are two nice apt. complexes on campus. Dining Hall is pitiful but probably average on the scale of SUNY schools. The vegetarian/vegan restaurant on campus is the best place to eat. Otherwise, the dining service seems to think all young people want to eat pizza, chips, sweetly flavored drinks and Krispy Creme donuts for each meal. The school's design is horribly bland, NO DECORATION AT ALL! Bricks, bricks and flat expanses - it's like some post-apocalyptic Utopian nightmare. Some classes are run-down and the library is a complete wreck. Mold in study rooms, old carpet, skanky couches and generally archaic equipment. Faculty are friendly and easy to deal with but administration is difficult. Bad wireless internet coverage and no ethernet cables in some of the apartments. Students are weird and artistic, a lot on nice people, cool parties and festivals. Concerts and plays are constantly going on, almost always a lot to do.
