Major: Psychology (This Major's Salary over time)
Carleton is a wonderful school for some types of people. If you love writing long papers, thrive on stress, like spending your weekend evenings in the library and are very liberal, then it is the right school for you. I found the students to be extremely friendly, the faculty was overall very good, but the overall atmosphere was extremely intense and was not a healthy place to live in. I had many friends who were suffering from depression due to the extreme amounts of work and the wellness center is always extremely busy in the dreary winter months. If you're looking for a fun social scene, do not come to Carleton. Being social here means binge drinking with a few people and then wandering up and down the streets of Northfield looking for a non-existant party. It was not a healthy or fun atmosphere to be in. I transferred after a year at Carleton and while I miss the quirky students and professors, I don't miss the extreme stress and my constant feeling of a breakdown. I have two friends who have also transferred and the three of us are much happier at bigger schools with more opportunities. We are still getting great educations, but are having a much better overall college experience.
