I have found Brandeis to be an excellent school thus far. Like anything, college is what you choose to make of it. Brandeis was not my "first choice" school when i applied to college but i chose to embrace it with an open mind and my efforts and dedication have been rewarded. In terms of academics, my academic experience has been fantastic. I've taken challenging and intellectually stimulating classes. The professors are easily accesible to students and are truly interested in student ideas. The faculty cares about the students and most professors do their utmost to be fair and helpful. The social life at Brandeis is not the greatest-but there is always something to do on campus. You just have to seek out nightlife. But since i've been at Brandeis, many more weekend programs and dances have been offered. There is a dievrse myriad of extracurricular activities. There is literally a club for everyone-whatever his/her interests. The students are friendly and liberal and most are open minded. I find that most students within my major are not super competitive. In fact, my impression of Brandeis students is that they are bright but not all that ambitious. There are a decent amount of hardworking students, but many seem to slide by and aren't overly contienscious. The religious life at Brandeis is unique and is very special for those that seek to involve themselves in it. People complain that Brandeis is not very diverse. Well the university was not founded for the purpose of being a "dievrse" institution. It was founded to provide a pretigious intellectual scholastic environmemt for Jewish students and Jewish professors who were not allowed into other top American universities because of their ethnic/religious background. So it really angers me when people who attend Brandeis complain it's not "diverse" because that comment is ignorant and irrelevant.
