Sam is a great school, I really love it here, and it's a really good school for elementary education. My classes are small and interesting (with a couple of exceptions). The thing I like about the classes is that there is always room for discussion, and most of the time you can get your opinion out about a certain issue, as opposed to bigger schools, who can't have class discussions. As for the social life, you get into it what you put out. I have a great group of friends that i met in different organizations. I would advise living in the dorms when you first get here, because you are able to be on campus and know what’s going on better. Some people around campus complain that there is nothing to do, and that's why they go home on the weekends. A lot of the students pack up and head home for the weekend here. They simply don't have anything to do because they aren't willing to make the effort to find something to do. Friends are not just going to drop out of the sky, you have to make an effort. My word of advice- get involved. There's an organization for almost anything: professional, religious, frats/sororities, service, and on. Pick one or two and get involved. Some of my best friends are from the organizations that I'm in. As for Huntsville, I like it a lot. It's a small town atmosphere that I'm proud to call home. There are museums, bars, a state park, good restaurants, and more. I've learned to love it the three years I have lived there. Overall, I would strongly recommend SHSU to anyone.
