Major: Economics (This Major's Salary over time)
I had a great experience at Kenyon. Now that I am in graduate school, I can even compare my undergraduate campus to a large state school—completely different! The faculty at Kenyon is approachable and helpful, and experts in their field. The grading is fair, yet challenging. While I'm still trying to find the exact route I want my career to head, the education at Kenyon gave me a worldly view that has helped me decide which way I want to go.For current students—I urge the freshmen to give Kenyon a good, solid chance. It's hard adapting to a small, isolated town, as well as get used to the "gossipy" campus life that sometimes exists. Yes, alcohol pervades most campus activities, but in most colleges that is the case. If you're not into that scene, there are other groups that do not focus on the booze so much. Students at Kenyon work very hard, and also play very hard!Kenyon students, regardless of the year they graduated, have an unsaid connection between them. It's hard to describe—but for example the other day I ran into a stranger who was wearing a pair of Kenyon shorts. Even in the hustle and bustle of a big city, we stopped and chatted—this sort of unique common bond. You have to go to Kenyon, and graduate from Kenyon to truly understand what it's all about. The other thing I suggest is for students to study a semester away from campus—whether overseas or in a large city program. Just spending time in a different environment gives perspective on your school/major that you couldn't gain any other way.
