I went to ORU because I really felt that it was a good academic university, and it just so happend that it was a Christian University. I have found that there are good and bad points in everyone, and ORU is not an exception. The students can be so friendly, then again some people have a very twisted sense of what it is to live a Christian life. Some people live ridiculously legalisticly closed-minded lives, while others rebel because their parents made them come or because they got a full ride as an athlete and they were never a Christian to begin with. That's okay… to not be a Christian and come to ORU… That's not the point. But they get very defensive when people try to help with their alcohol or promiscuous issues in a non-judgemental way. I am very "middle of the road" when it comes to everything, and I don't think that every professor has the right things to say all the time. There are weird things said by people in authority, but it is part of being a Christian to filter out the bad. When I left ORU for a semester to attend community college (I was always planning on coming back), some people asked me if I thought that I would be able to remain faithful to God not being at ORU. Well, what will happen when you leave this "haven" called ORU when you graduate? I thought that was a pretty weak thing to say! The people in the offices (besides admissions) are usually pretty rude and condecending. You will find that anywhere though I hear. All that being said, the Communications and Music faculty at ORU is the BEST! They are the only reason I stay there.
