Many of the reviews on here are absolutely ludicrous. Pitt is a wonderful school and it is located in a fabulous city. It's been my experience that everyone from Pittsburgh hates it and think it is a boring, ugly, depressing city, but those who move to Pittsburgh from other cities absolutely love it. I'm from Philadelphia and I love Pittsburgh. It is a culturally rich, interesting, fairly clean, safe little city. The Southside is my personal favorite spot in Pittsburgh, it's full of eclectic funky little shops and cafes. The Waterfront is also fun, as are Squirrel Hill and Shadyside. I also happen to really enjoy Oakland, where the university is located. But then, I can't imagine going to some school in the mountains where there's no Panera or Starbucks down the street and the only thing to do for entertainment is drive an hour and a half to Walmart. But that's just me.It has also been my experience that the professors at Pitt are top notch. All of my professors have been eager to talk with students outside of class and not one of them, so far, has done anything that would make me badmouth teaching at the University. COME TO PITT, you'll love it. However, if you can help it do NOT live in Sutherland…it's too far away and can be a bit antisocial. Suck it up and get the freshman noisy, crowded, cramped, Towers experience. It's worth it.
