Understand that Pepperdine is a Christian university and that its Christian identity is the basis of its appeal to 99% of the student body…and you will be fine there. Pepperdine is NOT the place for you if you don't at the very least respect the faith that its students live by. However, if you can show that respect, or even better, are a Christian and want to be surrounded by students who share many of the same beliefs as you, then it IS the place for you. This does not mean that everyone at Pepperdine is a right-winged Republican and has absolutely no liberal views. However, yes, you will encounter some very judgemental students who hide behind their faith and use it as an excuse to judge people (think of the movie SAVED). But, the real beauty of a school like Pepperdine is if you aren't into getting drunk, partying hard, doing drugs, or hopping bars and clubs with your fake ID—Pepp is the one place you will find that welcomes you with open arms. Where else do you find students having devotionals and playing worship music together on a Saturday night on the beach? Where else does 75% of the student body gather at a local church for
Univeristy Ministries
every Tuesday night? But it's not all a bunch of Bible-thumping boring people. At Pepp we know how to have fun and have parties and go out—without getting drunk or high. There's SO much to do if you drive 20-30 minutes out to LA, Hollywood, Santa Monica, etc. Lots of fun clubs (plenty of 18+ ones too) shows, shopping, great restaurants, and plenty more.

And to comment on the "rich snobs"…sure there's a few…but there's enough students on full ride scholarship or 100% financial aid to make up for them. I have never encountered ANY racism in any shape or form at Pepperdine. It's a God-loving school that takes education seriously and enrolls only serious students who want serious, professional careers. It has its faults, yes (it recently denied an "anti-homophobia" club on campus, it's in a secluded neighborhood, there are WAY to many general education requirements) however it has way to many great qualities that outweigh those faults. It's full of students who not only had high GPA's and SAT scores, but also devoted thousands of hours to community service and Christian activities in order to be admitted.
