Major: Linguistics (This Major's Salary over time)
My department (Classics and Archaeology) is very small and has some incredible professors (like Fr. Bill Fulco, who recently translated the script for Mel Gibson's "The Passion" into ancient Aramaic). Because of the small size of our department, upper division students often have the chance to take tutorial classes consisting of just one or two students and a tenured professor. The professors often plan their course offerings based on the academic interests of their students, and social events in the department allow students the opportunity to interact with the faculty in a relaxed atmosphere. Not all departments are like this, but if you are interested in Latin, Greek, or Semitic linguistics, or Near Eastern archaeology, this is the place for you.
