The school stresses class discussion as one of its strong points, but from personal experience, the intellect level and apathetic character of the majority of students makes this a virtual impossibility until one attends a higher level class meant for 3rd or 4th year students.The facilities are wonderful, the coursework, opportunities, and teachers are wonderful—but the intellectual and maturity level of the students do not reflect one's expectations of "higher-learning institution", much less "Hidden Ivy status". Windows are routinely smashed every weekend. Cigarette butts litter the campus. Minorities and International Students stick to themselves (in part due to the fact that the Administration lumps all multi-cultural students into the category of "colored students" or "students of color", as if they ought to all bond over the fact that they're not white). Otherwise the lack of diversity in thought, and inability of those who do think differently to express themselves clearly, render class discussion useless.The Administration (especially the new president) is trying very hard to make Hamilton a better campus, but the experience as a whole has been very disappointing. I think things may get better as an upperclassman though.For example,
