My advice to anyone attending this school is to stick it out. During your first two years you will be surrounded by a ton of people who really dont belong in college. A lot of NYC public high school students seem to view this and other CUNY schools as 13th grade and act accordingly. It can be frustrating and really detracts from the level of education. However, most of these people eventually drop out or get kicked out, so when you get to the 300 and 400 level classes, youll find yourself with intellectual peers, really great professors and interesting coursework. This is definately not the school for someone who wants a pretty campus and that fun-loving college lifestyle. If youre fresh out of high school and not from "the city" John Jay can be a pretty rude awakening, but in the end its worth it. Im glad I stuck it out and Im proud to have my degree from this institution.
