Major: Nursing (This Major's Salary over time)
As a nursing student, I've been able to observe student life in the other schools (Wharton, Engineering, and the College). It seems that the Nursing studens and the engineering students are the only non-competitive group of people. Most of the students in the College and in Wharton are stuck-up and busy trying to get into med school. Perhaps I am biased because I am not able to fully experience life in other sectors of the university, but I'd have to say the rich, boarding school-educated kids make the university some what "snobby" while most of the other students are friendly. Unfortunately, however, Penn is in west Philly, which is somewhat sketchy at certain hours of the evening. Advice to prospective students: If you're a normal person, be prepared to meet people that you're not going to like. However, be open minded towards everyone, as you'll find friends in very unexpected places. All in all, the university is pretty good at what it does. The faculty is extremely intelligent and the professors treat everyone fairly. I'm quite satisfied with the coursework and my academic experiences. Greek life, on the other hand, is just a contest to see who can afford to be in a sorority or fraternity, and who can't.
