am an alumnus with fair involvement and am a former
resident of the area. If the following traits are a
match for you, you will surely enjoy college life at
ABC. If not, continue looking. ABC has an attractive and
ever-expanding campus, not great but better than average dorms, an
adequate library, and a wonderful family atmosphere. The price is
outstanding. Christian charactor is modeled and stressed. The faculty is
small, but qualififed and involved in student's lives. Don't be
deceived in thinking this is “Hicktown, USA”! Bradley/Beckley is a
beautiful growing, friendly community surrounded by wonderful state and national
parks. A mall provides jobs and shopping in walking distance
of ABC. Students are warmly received by area churches. Your
education is limited to very conservative, “fundamental” thought and practice.
There will be no “thinking outside the box”. Local churches
that use praise music, small group ministry, or non-traditional forms
of evangelism are off limits, even if the church is
sound in doctrine, and these practices are highly criticized by
some instructors. As for the more conservative campus guidelines, most
students endure rather than embrace them.
