Date: Sep 22 2004 Major: Language - French/Spanish/etc. (This Major's Salary over time) Being an American student in Germany in the late 60s to early 70s was an amazing adventure. Learning to appreciate another culture and its language was both exciting and frustrating. But the fact that we could talk and learn in English and yet still live in such a quaint village just overlooking the Neckar River is now almost impossible. The cost of living and lack of the opportunity to repeat this experience prohibits doing this now. The Kleiningersheim campus only houses Schiller's admin department and the Nebenhaus is but a mere memory. The Gasthaus "zum Roessle" still serves exquisite schnitzle and the wine is just as good as it was almost 40 years ago. This is all too melancholic!
