Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time)
Pitt is a great school. I studied political science, and if you're interested in politics, Pittsburgh is a great place to go and learn first hand. The political science department has good teachers (and scholars) in it. Plus, you can go out and see first hand how politics works in the important Western Pennsylvania region. I learned a lot—both through academic work and activism. Pittsburgh is a great town. It has great parks (the Schenley Park just across the street from campus is a very large urban park with wood, grass, etc), there's a bike trail—I think it's done now—along the river downtown, there's a beautiful baseball stadium overlooking downtown (which is a short, and at least when I was there, free bus ride from campus), there's Mount Washington and the overlook of downtown, there's the culturial areas of Shadyside, there's enough nightlife if you like that sort of thing, there's great places to study (Hillman Library, the Cathedral of Learning—a truly beautiful building, and the law library), the cost of living is low. In short, you cannot beat going to college in a major urban area. I'm glad I went to Pitt.
