Major: Accounting (This Major's Salary over time)
I was accepted into the honors program instead of going to the University of Maryland. My dad taught at Maryland and warned me about the big classes. I definitely made the right decision coming to Towson. Here are my reasons:

1. Small classes: My average class is under 25 and several are under 20. In fact, my honors accounting class, which is an intro class has 11 students! There was a lot of personal attention, and I never felt like a number.

2. Friendly people: People here are very nice and friendly. Most are willing to meet new people.

3. Great looking student body: The girls are amazingly hot but even the guys seem good looking (although it is hard for me to judge guys). People here are very athletic as I will discuss later. Thus, they keep themselves in great shape.

4. Extracurricula Activities: Lots and Lots of clubs and sports activities. I am on the Ultimate Frisbee team, which is very popular. Most people here are into some sort of sport of physical activity, which keeps many of them quite trim.

5. Facilities: The buildings are quite nice, very ivy league looking. The gym is very modern with the latest machines and even has a climbing wall. The pool is also olympic sized.

6. Food: All college dorm food gets old,but the food here really isn't bad. In fact, when my parents come to visit, they like to eat in the main cafeteria. The food us buffet style; thus, you will never leave hungry. They offer some good items and vary the menu. In addition, you can get a a lot of vegitarian items and even go to a Kosher cafeteria if that is your choice. In addition, with the student card, we can eat at any cafeteria such as Subarros. Overall, not bad for colleg food.

7. Professors: There are some good and bad ones; however, one good thing is that we NEVER get teaching assistants. This is a Towson philosophy. In addition, professors are very accessible to questions, after hour help etc. Frankly, I get the feeling that this is similar to what goes on in a small liberal arts college.

8. Majors: Lots of majors here EXCEPT engineering. They have some amazing resources. In fact, I have a friend that is working in engineering and actually has his name on a grant as an undergraduate. Performing arts and visual arts are very good here ( probably the best in the Maryland state university system) and business here is also quite good. My ex-girlfriend is into communication and English and likes her courses a lot.

9. Dorms: Here Towson can make some improvements. While my room was good, many of the rooms are small and cramped. They seem older than they really are. Some dorms aren't air conditions either, yuch! However, they all are heated.

If you can, however, get into the honors program. Having first priority on class registration gives a big benefit. Also, all honors kids get some kind of scholarship. From what I have heard, Towson offers more merit money than that of any other Maryland state university.

Bottom Line: Towson is what you make of it. If you want to sit home and focus on all the well dressed kids and do nothing, you won't like it, as some have commmented on. However, if you are willing to get out and meet people, have an open mind and take the best courses possible, you can get a first rate education here plus have one heck of a good time!
