Major: Other (This Major's Salary over time)
I am a graduate from MDC. My experience has been like a roller coaster ride at this college. The advisement counslers don't care what major you have or even try to help. They will just register you for whatever they find convenient. Plan on waiting for 3 hrs or more while they play games on their computers (i've seen it w/ my own eyes). Financial aid is total chaos because students work their and all they have is attitude. They will send you somewhere else just to get rid of you. If one doesn't plan out their own curriculm or decide what upper division school (talk to a counsler at the university not at MDC) to attend well you will then end up with an excess amt of credits that may not even transfer to the upper div (it happened to me). Plus president Padron preaches the importance of higher education but instead he's declining it by hiring more part-time proffessors who just go to get paid while having another job on their mind. This is beneficial in the sense of not having to pay professors benifits. When I started at MDC I didn't know what career to choose I went to the career center and it was no help at all. Due to this I changed my major 4 times and now I'm paying the consequences. Now I have to take prerequisite classes for the Occupational Therapy program I plan to attend. The only good thing about this college was that tuition wasn't expensive. The bookstore is another headache every semester they increase their cost on books. Believe it I've noticed! My advice to anyone wanting to attend this college is to contact your upper division program counsler and ask them what classes do you need to take at MDC. Take your general requirement classes no electives and get OUT!!!!
