I had a difficult time at Purdue my first year because I came from California so the conservative white bread culture was a big shock. But I was lucky enough to be in a program with such great professors (Consumer Sciences) and I gained enough mentors that were invested in me that I stayed and even graduated early. It was amazing that at a school of 36 K + you can get such individual attention. It definitely prepared you for interviewing and the real world; much more so than friends that went to other colleges. West Lafayette is definitely a sleepy town so if you are not in the Greek System or have a fake ID to get to bars, there is very little to do. I believe shopping in the area has improved significantly since I was there but don't expect this to be an urban experience. There are always fun weekend outings to Indy (1 hour) or Chicago (3 hours).
