I hate to file my comments on NU under "Negative" because there were some positive aspects to it, but overall I left after 3 semesters because I didn't like the atmosphere. Students were doing just enough to get by, and though I was involved in some extracurriculars I never found the type of people I wanted to be friends with—very smart, creative, unique, interesting—everyone was just kind of going through the motions in school, didn't seem passionate about much. Alot of boring, spoiled kids. I transferred this year to another large university and feel like the intellectual and classroom atmosphere is much more serious and challenging. If you are into your schoolwork and want to talk about something other than baseball, you may have trouble meeting people like I did. Professors were ok, nobody that I would keep in touch with or who really took an interest in me. One was only 24 years old and was getting his masters—he was ok but i thought I should be getting someone more qualified for my money. I think I wanted a more traditional university, where most students were more engaged and there was a more cohesive campus feeling. NU has some pretty new buildings but it feels very impersonal and doesn't have alot of history. I wouldn't recommend it.
