Major: Natural Resources (This Major's Salary over time)
First, my major is in environmental science, but that was not one of the offered choices here.

It is very important when considering Wilson College to do as much background checking as possible. Most of the programs on campus are underfunded. In particular, the Women with Children program has degenerated into a shambles. With only one director and little to no support from any other administrators, there has been a distinct breakdown in the program's agenda: to help mothers to get an education while helping them to prepare for the challenges of life after school. There isn't anything offered to the mothers or there children that they couldn't find off campus or at another educational institution. We pay slightly more than what a traditional student would pay for tuition, room, and board.

There is very little respect given to the individual student and there are vast systemic issues that must be addressed campus wide, which have been met, to date, with only "band-aid" type solutions.

If you are looking for the kind of place where you can go to learn how to be walked on by the powers-that-be, then this is the place for you. The faculty, which is in general, wonderful, and the staff both give off a sense of resignation toward these problems as they have also been brushed under the carpet.

In the environmental department, be sure to get everything that is agreed upon by you and your advisor in writing. This will save you from running into problems when you are told that you may no longer do/have what had been previously discussed.

Before you even begin the admissions process, be sure to talk to as many students as you can so that you will be able to have a clear and far more accurate picture of what lies ahead. Do not settle for what is in the brochures or expressed during the campus tours.

Make sure that you know in advance what you want your major to be before you enroll here. Most of the classes are on a two to three year rotation. That means that a class that you need to graduate may or may not come around in time for you to take it as well as any prerequisits that are required.

There are many good things about Wilson (Fulton Farm, small class sizes, beautiful campus) but there more things that are not so good. Just be very careful when deciding to come here.
