I would not reccommend attending Houghton College if you are looking for a fair, student-oriented and understanding administration. The office of Student Life is unusually bad in this area. The dean of Students, Denise Bakerink, has never been married and seems unhappy and takes this out on the students. She fails to follow procedures outlined in the student guidebook and essentially perverts the entire school atmosphere. Unfortunately, she's a "company girl," graduated from Houghton, born and bred. So if you go, you're stuck with her there, but be sure she follows procedure.
