I had a fun-filled, education-filled 4 years at Brandeis. Actually, I went abroad for a semester, so it was really 3.5 years (and while I was away, it certainly made me appreciate Brandeis). Anyway, there is so much to do… but the key is motivation, and motivation is up to you. One thing is clear from reading the surveys: the education is excellent, the professors are accessible - top notch education. And that is why many people go to college.

Next, the social scene. When deciding on schools, I was hesitant to go to a "party" school and I had a great visit to Brandeis and when I got there freshman year, the first thing I do ironically is join a frat. It wasn't planned but I'm so glad I did join. Fraternities/Sororities are there, though not technically recognized, and I had a wonderful experience. It isn't USC or U. of Indiana, but that was still loads of fun. I still keep in touch with my frat bros. and they are important in establishing business contacts/networks after you graduate. Certainly, it isn't necessary to join a fraternal organization there. Most of my friends now were not part of that scene, but it was nice to have such an option. The point is that people are generally friendly and most people can find a nice group that they can relate to after awhile there.

I also did sports, both varsity and intramurals - great opportunities, even for those who aren't totally a sports-junkie. Boston is close by for shopping, partying, etc. The people who I went to college with were varied and generally nice and cared about academics. Granted, the people weren't the most attractive in the world when I was there, but I have visited since and things have really improved greatly! Sure, there are people who had bad experiences after reading some of these reviews, but for the most part, I think most Brandeisians loved their time at Brandeis. The alumni network is also very strong and being out in the "real" world for several years now, I can say that Brandeis has an incredible, and well-earned reputation that I am extremely proud of. Hope this commentary helps you!
