Date: Feb 20 2005 Major: Geography and Geosciences (This Major's Salary over time) I was a transfer student in Applied Geophysics from 1980 to late 1982. The Good;Academically the school was very good with interesting Profs and TA's. Liked the small campus size and downtown Houghton/Hancock bars. Great for outdoor types who like long heavy winters and short bug infested summers. The UP is fantastic for sportsmen, campers and hikers. The SDC is a great rec facility especially for such a small campus. The party scene at off-campus houses was good. The Bad;Male/Female ratio is still unchanged at 4:1 from the 1980's. Winters are harsh and long with weeks of no sun and sub-zero temps.Overall; While my overall experience was positive, I cannot recommend MTU because of the horrific m/f ratio and the ungodly severe winters (and I grew up in northern lower MI). Go someplace warm with pussy.
