Bennington's a wonderful place if you are self-directed and are willing to take charge of your own academic progress while faculty helps to guide you. It's a tough mix because students can oftentimes get away with doing less work than they are expected to. At the same time, the loophole that allows them to get away with working less is the same openness that lets very engaged students explore their work and take it in all types of directions. There isn't much to do here. There are groups whose job it is to make there be a lot of things going on all the time, and they do a wonderful job, considering. It's a matter of variety and the number of options. no matter what, wer are a small suburban campus, and it's hard sometimes to get out and do things because there aren't options. That said, it is a beautiful campus, and once you have a solid social basis, the situation is alright. Faculty are generally wonderful and very accessable, and insterested in the work you do, even if it doesn't directly relate to their field of study. As far as academics, as long as you're independent and dedicated, Bennington is perfect. Socially, and outside of classes, it's a tough adjustment if you're used to having more to do.
