The reviews for LSU seem fake, why is it the reviews come mostly from Jan.23 2001?

My college (LSU) has a career services department that is in need of help. There are individuals in the department that do a good job, but the overall ability of the department to make connections with companies and the university, the success in helping students with internships and co-ops is poor.

LSU really hurt me. At Southern and University of Texas the departments in engineering make sure that every student has had an internship. At LSU most of the professors are good at what they do, but they do not have much real world experience to offer students. Only two teachers - both instructors - encouraged me to take the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.

Only one stressed getting an internship.

The university needs to make it clear that engineering and college education has changed. A degree is nothing unless you have a 3.5 GPA, otherwise you need experience.

You may be limited on money, but if you can go to a school like Texas A&M - they have more business contacts - go there. I hate to create braindrain, but it is the truth. Southern has great nation wide job placement. Look for internships and co-ops beginning your sophomore year. The better GPA, the better your chances are for getting experience.

Everyone cheats in LSU engineering.

The social scene depends on what type of person you are. If you are someone who has grown up in Louisiana, cares for nothing but getting drunk and watching LSU football, then it is great.

If you do not drink forget about coming to LSU. Almost all things center around getting drunk. This almost all(90%) the non-devout student body.

Things people consider progressive. Political awareness, community awareness, humanitarianism, environmentalism arealmost nowhere to be found at LSU. If you represent any of those values you will most likely be an outcast.

The student body is not very productive. Over the past 20 years, you probably cannot find anything of significance that the student have given to the city of Baton Rouge.

People who are cultured are very rare with respect to a university.

But LSU is a school for Louisiana people. If you are a Louisiana type person you will like it.
