I just wanted to say that this was incredibly helpful. I know you wrote this three years ago, but I'm considering going to CU-Boulder, and all I've been hearing is that it's a big party school, and that it's so easy to fall between the cracks. This was really reassuring, so thank you! |
Major: Aerospace Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
Although the University of Colorado at Boulder has gotten a lot of negative press the last fourteen months, the school is absolutely fantastic. The academics here are extremely strong. The professors are amazing. If you come here you will find that most of your classmates are bright and driven. Yes, the student body has a segment that is only interested in partying and skiing, but it is small (contrary to national opinion). Please don't let this group form your image of a typical CU undergrad. I am an in-state student from "down the road" in Denver, and, although I had other choices (Berkeley, Dartmouth, Michigan, etc.), I chose CU because it really is a fabulous (wish the world would catch on!) university with strong engineering programs in one of the most beautiful settings you will ever see. Truly, an undergraduate education is really what you make of it. At CU, nobody is going to hold your hand. You're in charge (this, of course, better prepares you for life after college). So, in sum, if you're looking for an excellent education in a gorgeous setting, come to CU-Boulder. Besides, other prestigious institutions know the value of a CU degree. I know of several people that have gone on to graduate study at places like MIT, Northwestern, Stanford, etc. Hope this helps…
