I was enrolled in the paralegal program. The classes are a joke. You WILL NOT be prepared to work after you graduate. The classes are 12 weeks long; you do not get through even 1/3 of the book for the course. The teachers have to "teach down" to the students. They are instructed to give tests with only true/false, or multiple choice answers. If not, no one would be able to pass the test. There are no standards for admission; everyone is welcome as long as they can get the financial aid. Most of the students belong in remedial classes. The program is not ABA approved, therefore, the credits will not transfer anywhere if you wish to continue on to earn a bachelor's degree. I have attended the school for 6 months, and I can honestly say I learned almost nothing. It was a huge waste of money. I'm glad I made the decision not to return. I have not heard one single student say they would recommend the school to anyone. If you consider enrolling, I urge you to sit in on one of the "legal" classes. You will immediately get a sense of what you will encounter with the teacher, as well as the student body. There was one girl who did her internship with an attorney in private practice. She was very embarassed that she didn't know how to do anything, especially any of the legal forms. Fortunately, he was very nice, and taught her how to function as a paralegal. Some of the teachers were very nice, but they decided to leave after one quarter. Most of the good teachers leave. I talked to a student last week that attempted to enroll at Cleveland State University. She was informed that none of her legal class credits would transfer. Much to her dismay, the admissions person told her they really don't even consider The Academy of Court Reporting a real school. If you are planning to go here for the Court Reporting program, you may have slightly better results. However, the drop out rate for that course of study is extremely high. I could actually write a book on my experience, it has been so unbelievable. I truly thought someone was in charge of overseeing these operations. The government should see how the taxpayer's dollars are being wasted. I wish there was a question and answer forum here, so I could respond if you have any questions. My advice is to look elsewhere for an education. You won't get much of one here.
