I just endured a year in this place, and unless you endure neo-fascist environments, do yourself a favor and don't come here. Luckily, I decided to bail out of here, and it was something I thought about doing from day one.

You will have no freedom if you attend this college. Mark my words. I had more freedom in high school than I did when I was in GCC. If you like freedom and want to be treated like an adult, then please look elsewhere. On the other hand, if you like a neo-fascist environment and like being treated like a child when you're 19, then GCC is your cup of tea. There is a curfew for freshmen first semester…no joke. At GCC, they actually block Internet pages, and not just Playboy. I'm a big fan of the New York Yankees, and TWO fan sites about the Yankees ended up blocked here. It's freaking baseball, but then again, these people take "Christian conservative" to unbearable extremes. In the minds of these crazies, I may be old enough to vote and own a gun, but I'm not old enough to read what I want to. The policies they have with regards to visitation are absurd, as they hold the ridiculous view that every time a guy and girl are in a room that they will have sex. Even if that was true, there is nothing illegal with that due to a concept called "consenting adults," but oh, I forgot that the United States Constitution doesn't apply here. The people here are as closeminded as you could imagine. The town takes "one horse town" to the extremes, and there is no social life here. Tolerance does not exist here. It is sad to see how many minds are filled with hate. All these prudes like to do is moan about gays, liberals, and abortion. If you're not a conservative, not a fundamentalist Christian, or worst of all, gay, you're in huge trouble.

The classes aren't that bad, but if you're looking for a fair, balanced presentation of facts, you won't find it here. The "civilization" series is dreadful, as it is basically candy-coated propaganda. I had one prof that ranted and raved about how much he hated everything and how much he hated gays, all class long. The history classes are actually pretty good. The academics are definetely a strong suit.

GCC may have good academics, but unless you're either a conservative to the point of being a neo-fascist or a glutton for punishment, don't go here. In time, the closeminded students, the propaganda-like classes, and being treated like a little child at age 18-22 will drive you to the point of insanity. Please, don't make the mistake I did, and please apply elsewhere. If you don't go here, you'll be glad you didn't apply here.

responseThis sounds just like my school and I love it that is why I love GCC.The world would have less problems if there were more moral based schools.
response"Amen" Haha, I went to this horrible school for 2 years … I would have transferred after my freshman year had I not met a girl and stuck it out. I went to a REAL University for my last 2 years, having to take 21-24 credits a semester there to graduate in time since most GCC credits wouldn't transfer. I grew more as a person, made more friends, learned more about the real world, etc, in my first semester at Penn State than I did in 4 at GCC. And here's the kicker … after graduating, when I'd go to interviews and they would see that I spent 2 years at GCC … no lie, interviewers from TWO National Corporations asked "what was GCC? was that a community college?" meanwhile they drooled over my PSU diploma. Forget GCC.
