Major: Computer Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
I'm doing engineering.. One of the big things if you are considering this major is there is "the gauntlet". This consists of calc1-3, differential equations, physics 1-3.. These courses are hard, and for an undisciplined freshman, it will kick your butt. The faculty can be good or bad, I think it depends on your opinion of them- this often affects how well you do in class.Once you get through your required gen ed type classes and the gauntlet, you get into the real nitty gritty cool useful material. There are many opportunities for work, internships, coops etc, you just need to look for them.Dr. Bauer is the chief computer engineer and go to guy for our advisor. He totally rocks. He even has his own little job board you can check if you're needing some work.It is a long haul, but if you think you'd be bored doing anything else, UCF Engineering is definitely for you.I like the school and what others have said about using ratemyprofessor.com and myprofessorsucks.com really can help a lot with who you should\shouldn't take for your classes. The campus is beautiful, lots of restaurants and shindigs to hang out at. It sits about 5 mins away from a giant outdoor mall called Waterford Lakes. There's local shopping, food supplies, entertainment etc. The surrounding area offers theme parks, downtown life, nightlife, always something to do.I can think of so many free things to do if you're a "poor" college student too- you can walk around the disney hotels payin only for parking- which is reimbursed if you eat at one of their restaurants.. Saturday night in Kissimmee there's an old car show at a place called Old Town. Winter park (where full sail is) offers several shopping and dining options.Living quarters are abound here- lots of apartments and housing opportunities.. Nearby to Clermont (triathalon and cycling center- lots of freshwater lakes and hills with a sister campus out there) Cocoa (Nasa and the beach), not too far from Tampa or Sarasota (nice beaches and nightlife)Really just a great central and fun location… And lots of stuff to keep you happy and entertained when you're not studying or sleeping :)
