Susquehanna still has a long ways to go in cultivating anything close to a welcoming, academic atmosphere. The faculty are great and the tiny student-teacher ratio is its best asset. But the kind of students who are attracted to SU are still mostly preppy rich girls and frat boys who mostly care about nothing more than where they can get drunk this weekend. The University also has a little bit of a problem in that although it calls itself a "liberal arts" school, the core liberal arts subjects seem to often get the shaft in favor of the business, music, and education programs. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong w/ these programs, but a liberal arts school needs to be stronger in humanities and sciences, not the more career-focused programs.

The administration strives toward diversity, but it's difficult to do when Susquehanna has a reputation as being a "nice" (read: white) school. The fact remains that a lot of people end up coming to school here because they are afraid of racial, ethnic, cultural, and economic difference. It's changing every day though, and I'd imagine that SU will be a very different school in 5 years.
