Galveston College is very inexpensive and offers opportunities to people who are extremely self-motivated. It's easy to make a good impression here because most of the students and faculty are not of high quality.

To be frank, the computer science department is almost non-existant here. I know several people who are not able to graduate because the classes they need to finish are not being filled enough to actually hold the class. There are only one or two full time computer science teachers and they spend all their time teaching Microcomputer Applications (how to use Word, Excel, Access, etc.).

The English program is also terrible here. There are some teachers who don't speak or write well. There are a lot of remedial and developmental math and english courses being offered.

Student life is also poor. There are only a couple of active student organizations. There are very few student activities. There seems to be some difficulty in gathering support for a new club or organization.

The nursing program is pretty good from what I hear, but I've met some of the instructors and they don't seem very excited or interested in teaching. There is a good partnership between Galveston College and UTMB for the nursing program.

There is an onsite daycare facility for people who need it.

If you can get in somewhere else you should go there. GC is a stepping stone.
