Be forewarned- no one will be nice to you. The student body at U of T is completely dedicated to two things: stamping out the souls of those around you in order to eliminate competition through sheer cruelty, and having nervous breakdowns. I don't know one happy person who isn't a freshman. It's better to commute because then, at least, you can go home to someone who has some kind of personal interest in you. It's cutthroat and it's ugly. Also, I hope you enjoy racial cliques, because they comprise 95% of the student population. Either develop a huge ego and talk about YOUR life and YOUR thoughts and YOUR ideas and YOURSELF constantly, because if you try to be accommodating or friendly people will talk over you and be terribly condescending.Be advised that U of T is VERY difficult academically, and that some of the larger departments grade in a skewed manner just so they can get rid of some students. Some faculties are lovely, like the Slavic Studies department. Others…not so much.
