NO Greek system? So I suppose there are no Houston's parties as well, since the Fraternity of Psi Upsilon obviously doesn't exist. |
Major: English (This Major's Salary over time)
I highly recommend Mary Washington to anyone who wants a great liberal arts education. I received a superb education there. However upon graduating, I was frustrated by the lack of recognition MWC (or UMW) receives. It is not "Ivy League", nor is it considered a "national university" and our division III athletics does nothing to help build the school's reputation. That said, it is - in spite of all this - an excellent school that those who want a superior education should not ignore. An aside note: you cannot beat the price! I know of a higher education institution where I live that is very similar to MWC, but charges a lot more as it is private. Also, because there is no greek system, everyone socializes together, which is great. I didn't have to buy my friends, and still had a very fulfilling, very active social life. The curriculum at MWC helped me sharpen my critical thinking skills and work ethic - two traits that have been instrumental in helping me get ahead professionally. I know that a larger university would not have been as helpful in those areas (let's face it: TA's don't give a care about whether you really learn - they're just trying to impress the professor).
