The good—MCC's currency is relationships. The emphasis is placed upon growth within the context of community. Out of this emphasis comes things such as residence halls requirements, discipleship groups (a small group of about 5 that every freshmen and sophomore is required to be involved in), lots of group projects, and the professors are hugely accessable. This is definitely MCC's greatest asset—its emphasis on fostering healthy growth specifically in the context of relationships. Because of this, I believe that many MCC graduates do well in church ministry, because in our culture today, as always, ministry is relational. You can have all the bible knowlege you want, and you can know how to prepare a sermon really well, but if you are not good with relationships, investing in people and serving people, you will fail in ministry. This environment that emphasizes healthy community is highly conducive to training ministers. The bad—students have little or no say in what goes on, decisions that are made, direction the college is headed. The administration seems to be more organization focused than student focused. Some of the professors are "out of date," not keeping up with the times, both in content and teaching style. The level of integrity in the student body is very low. There are a few leaders, people who really want to make a difference for the kingdom, but the majority are there to play sports, get a 'dual degree,' or find a spouse. Ministry is a job option for many. There are a few, however, who are at MCC because they feel called to be there, and believe that they have been chosen for the specific task of ministry as particularly manifested in the local church. These are the ones who stand out within the student body.

Responses
responseIn the response to the bad. I would just like to say (as a person who plays a sport there and is a dual-degree student) that the person that said that the integrity is low at MCC is highly false. I know people who attend MCC who play a sport and who are dual degree students who are more spiritual than that of some people who are going into ministry. So to be quite forward when I say that this assumption is quite false. Just because some people are not going into ministry does not mean that they will not and are not a leader for the greater good of the world when it comes to their spirituality and relationship they have with Jesus Christ. There are people who believe that through a secular job and through the sport they play they can also leader and help glorify Him through their actions in the world, around campus, on the playing surface or just walking around the city of Manhattan. So through this I believe that the last part of the "bad" section is false and libelous.
I was a student at Manhattan Christian College and they have (mostly) great people there and good-hearted people who are interested in your success.

However, one person has completely ruined my experience at MCC. That person is Dave Krahling. He works in the financial office. He absolutely abuses the little power MCC gave him and seeks every opportunity to apply fees and charges extra to students when he can.

He is NOT nice about it and is very nasty to the students he interacts with. He charged me AT LEAST one fee (ranging from $100-$1200) EVERY semester I attended MCC without giving me any warning and was very unpleasant about how he carried himself. He lied about a deadline I “didn’t make” and I had to get another staff member to confirm he was wrong, which he (that other staff member) did. There is no reasoning with him and when you try to talk to him his answer is “because I’m the financial officer and that’s what I’ve decided.” He treats you like a little kid. So any charge he puts on your bill are non-negotiable.

I realize that since it is his job to make sure students pay their bills, it is in the nature of the job to potentially come across as mean to some people but Dave takes it WAY too far. He carries himself in a way that makes it obvious he is against you, as opposed to working for/with you as a college student.

I get along with the majority of people I meet, and I'm writing this review because it is not just some personal vendetta. Almost any student at MCC you ask will tell you that Dave is hostile and self-seeking. And while they probably will not admit it, any staff member who works near him knows how rude and hostile he can be. Other staff members have apologized to me many times on his behalf.

A college is a business and they need to make money but Dave takes it way too far. From his malicious-spirited attitude to the way he takes advantage of students, he is not reflecting well on the institution and ultimately on Christ.

Unfortunately, if I would have known all this before I would NOT have attended Manhattan Christian College. There ARE good people there but it's sad how one person can ruin such a potentially sweet experience. Do NOT attend MCC unless you are ready to deal with extra fees, charges, and a stubborn, angry man who seems to take out is anger on students.
