I loved my experience at SLC and I knew it at the time. The campus is small and the students are highly individualistic, but I appreciated this and didn't see it as a defect. The campus politics are way-left but I knew this was a special opportunity for me as a sheltered midwestern kid to widen my horizons. I loved it, and I miss it. Once an alumus came to campus while I was there and listened to some of us complain, but he said

wait until you leave, you will miss what a special experience this was

I understood this then and now!

After graduating those who knew of SLC were impressed with it as an institution. But I didn't go there for prestige. The small classes and donning system provided the best educational experience I have ever had. SLC is definitely not for everyone, but it was definitely for me.
