The only thing bad about RPI can be seen in the Princeton Review. The professors are not ranked very high because of their focus on their own research and work. A basic level course usually doesn't have a passionate professor. The professors are great outside of class for the most part, but I've had both the best teacher of my life there and the two worst teachers of my life there. Troy has some cold weather and the town isn't the greatest, but it's beautiful and very photogenic when it's not covered with clouds and such from the rainy/snowy weather.
