Overall, I like the university. As with all colleges there is room for improvement. Lack of (decent) housing, weird class schedules, and Student accounts will drive you crazy. First off, I'm a dorm student I've lived in the freshmen dorms at Maria's Tower as well as the St. George residence hall. Pace could have better dorms closer to campus that is cheap. Freshmen pay about $5000 for their residence hall, when you live in any of the other residence halls you will pay $7000 to $14000. Oddly enough, the more expensive the place doesn't mean you're getting the top of the line. Most of the dorms are in Brooklyn, so freshmen should enjoy living in Lower Manhattan because the next year (unless you want to live in a quad or are a genius) you are going to be in Brooklyn for a while. Also, the housing directors hype everything so take what they say with a grain of salt. However, the Resident Advisors are, for the most part, cool. If you follow the rules in the dorms or can hide what doing, you won't have any problems. On to student accounts. Make absolutely sure everything is in order before you do anything in regards to registering classes, missing financial aid, etc. otherwise you'll get sent to SARS. Thankfully, if you are compitent you don't have to deal with people and get everything done online. SARS isn't the place you want to be, don't get me wrong, there are a few really nice people there. But for the most part, they will argue with you, they don't like their job, and see everything as your fault. If you can, handle what problems you do have without going there…unless you like to leave annoyed. If, for some chance you do have to go, make sure you have everything you need and know the university procedures before you go. It'll save you alot of time. CLASSES: Overall, the professors will work with you and be a great help. There are some there you don't want under any circumstances, but the majority of them are good. FACILITIES: The buildings are well maintained, especially for the amount of traffic they recieve. The dorms that Pace does own (Maria's Tower and Fulton Hall) follow the same suit. Dorms they don't own, which are leased to them (St. George and Clark Hall) could be much better. MISC.: If you like a diverse campus with NYC at your doorstep, you'll love Pace. If you can't deal with bureaucracy and cannot see past small things, you'll hate it. Dormers, don't expect the world but it could be MUCH worse. If you're into the Sciences, Law, Business, or Computer Sciences, Pace is almost tailor-made for you. Liberal Arts students…the university isn't well known for these programs, but they are trying hard to change that. If you keep an open mind and can deal with shortcomings, you'll enjoy it here.
