Some positive things about UM: It's small, you definitely see familiar faces around. It's nice with the great tropical landscaping and modern buildings (seems like new buildings are constructed all the time). It's pretty convenient because the dorms system is pretty good, you basically don't have to worry about anything but sleep eat study and party hard. Everything is basically online, so no need to wait in lines.

There are more positives but let's get to the "negative stuffs." You definitely get the feel that this is kinda like a resort, with beautiful chicks and good football team entertaining you. So you say the people are dumb, but they are just normal people. In real life, you don't just live among brilliant geniuses, do you? Second thing: it's expensive. But remember it's a private school, and I think it's cheaper than other private schools. Third thing: mediocre academics. Well, if you're brilliant why are you here or even researching this school? Fourth thing: snobbish rich people. They're there just like MTV is there, for you to watch if you like. But there are tons of other people who are very friendly.

I guess I can't list any other prevalent weaknesses. Gotta say though, it's really up to you. I mean, even if you go to Harvard, do you they will make you into a super genius just because you are there? Reading other comments here on this site seems like listening to complaints of people who've made the wrong choice of school. For me, I am from the west coast, I consider myself pretty smart, and I go here because I chose to go here, knowing fully well what to expect (all the good stuffs and bad).

My last words: Be a critical thinker and decide for yourself after listening to people you know or reading opinions like this on the Internet.
