I just graduated from HPU and I feel somewhat satisfied with my experience. There are both good things and bad things about HPU. I personally liked the attention the professors gave the students. Due to the small class sizes you build a relationship with your professors (which can be beneficial if you arent doing too well). I have taken classes at a bigger school and having a class with 50 other people makes it hard to concentrate. Another plus to HPU is that there are a lot of international students. Its really interesting to have classes with people from other cultures. I think it makes you a better person to learn about the societies outside of what you were raised in.A bad side to HPU is that the downtown campus, which most students have classes at. It really isn't a "campus" Its more like a place with buildings that the classes happen to be in. You still get to see friends between classes and sometimes its nice if you wanna go catch lunch but its not a true campus…its open to the public. However from my freshmen year to my senior year…its been cleaned up a lot. So hopefully the years to come will be better. Another down side is the dorms…luckily I never had to live in them but i've seen them and they arent cool. My advice to anyone who is thinking of attending, is this isn't a school to go to if you are looking for a a lot of spirit and sport enthusiasm. Meaning…no one goes to sport events, or gets psyched for the game on fridays. Not many students care. Some more advice is if you dont know anyone…dont live in the dorms but look into HPU's "Off Campus living" I belive they go through a company called CADMUS. Pretty much you live in a hotel. It beats the dorms, you live on the beach, and you get to meet lots of people. So all in all, I'd give HPU a 7 out of 10. It gets the job done, and the beaches are pretty amazing so you cant beat that!
