I came to SMU wanting a small school environment where the faculty and student body was caring and close. I wanted a school where I would not fall through the cracks. If I could do it again, I would choose a different school. I am glad I had the experience of coming to a different state, but SMU students on the whole seemed more interested in impressing other students with their wealth or style than in getting any type of education. (judging or choosing their friends on how many Luis Vuitton purses or what type or car they own)I found many students found their click early and were not open to others. I did not pledge a sorority my freshman year and have felt left out and snubbed by sorority girls that have a 'better than you' attitude that I had never felt before, coming from a very positive experience in High School (president of my class, etc.)If you are a wealthy guy, this would be the place for you (if you are looking for the most beautiful women). If you are an intelligent woman with not only looks, but self esteem and ambition, I would choose another school. As far as the education, I found it difficult to get the classes I wanted. I took many classes just to fit something into my schedule that would count toward my degree, when the ones I wanted were not available. I did find most of the faculty competent and helpful, but did have my share of bad professors.
