Major: Engineering Department (This Major's Salary over time)
Currently, I am a Third Year Biomedical Engineering student, who has nearly completed the Pre-Med course requirements, and is closing out on the BME major. I am a resident of Virginia, so I've always had the added incentive of attending this university for monetary reasons, but I can guarantee you that this was a secondary reason during the decision making proccess. Firstly, the campus in Charlottesville is completely majestic, and is set on the backdrop of the number 1 place to be living in the country right now, according to Fortune magazine and MSN Homes. There is always something to do at the University or around the surrounding area, and we are extremely close to a number of other academic institutions (William and Mary, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, etc), which try to party as hard as we do. We also sport improving programs almost across the board, and for the most part our programs seem to be developing well with better research funding, improved professors, and fresh deans. We party hard, all the time—not in the kind of way where students are getting wasted and falling into cars, but in the kind of way that's both relaxing and enjoyable. And of course, if you want to get super wasted, that's a possibility too.Class isn't too hard, life's relaxing, and UVa's great. We're an underanked university just climbing our way to the top, and you should be happy to enjoy the ride too!
