Major: Chemistry (This Major's Salary over time)
Unlike others, I think the location of College Park is one of its main negative points. Being located close DC and in a low-income, crime infested area, many of UMD's problems are due to its location. This includes day-light muggings, day-light shooting (one student has already been shot by thugs this year), robberies, and car thefts. In fact, many students will not venture out into College Park after dark. That being said, there are other things that keep UMD from becoming a top 10 or 15 University. This includes the lack of attention for undergrads. During my time here, I've noticed that undergrads are swept aside and I can honestly say that I haven't learned much here, even though I am a junior by credit. I took some summer classes in my home state this year and I learned more in 2 months than I've learned in 2 years at UMD.
