Major: Design Arts - Industrial Design/Graphic Design/etc (This Major's Salary over time)
i transferred here as a sophomore. i do not see where the negative posts are coming from. all of the buildings are designed extremely well, aesthetically and functionally. there is a lot of work, but if you truly love what you do and strive to do something with your life rather than be that typical college type and drink every night at the local fraternity, then parsons is excellent. there arent any frats, sororities, or sports, which i think is a great thing. all of those things are meaningless and only perpetuate stupidity and arrogance. if youre into that kind of stuff, dont come to parsons. parsons is about getting a reknowned education and utilizing the amazing facility that is new york city.as far as credentials go, parsons' are undeniable. first fashion, graphic design, and communication design programs in the country, located in the village, and some of the country's finest artists got their education here - edward hopper, norman rockwell and so on. the faculty are working professionals in the field - many of which will incorporate their real life work into the class by bringing in guest lecturers and having critiques with professionals. new york is expensive - deal with it. you dont have to live in manhattan in housing - in fact it is cheaper to have an apartment in brooklyn and just commute. i commute from brooklyn everyday, and its never a problem.if you love what you do and don't mind working your ass off to be successful, then parsons is great. if you want to drink 7 days a week, join a fraternity, break things, smash beer cans over your head, shout obscenities, pop your collar, wear pink shirts, or the like, then please, save yourself and us the trouble and go somewhere else. thanks.
