I seriously think you should reconsider if you have thought of SUNYIT as a choice for your 4 college years. I made the choice to go here because I thought it would be a bargain, but believe me it's not worth your time. Maybe it's ok if you are a commuter, but the bottom line is that this campus is just depressing. If feeling absolutely dead is for you then I geuss you might still consider it. Everybody leaves on the weekends, and you'd be hard pressed to find anything remotely fun to do in the surrounding area. Theres nothing to do but study, or choose to drink your sorrows away like the rest of the people here. If you come here you better have a girlfriend or boyfriend because the girl/guy ratio is abysmal. Utica is one of the worst cities i've ever been in, and it's nothing but a barren wasteland. Not to mention it's rather unsafe at night. There are a couple positives. The facilities are small but feel accomodating. The food is ok, although it will make you take plenty of visits to the bathroom. The dorms are alright. Even though they are considered the best of the SUNY's, I think the rooms are just OK. It seems like every other day something breaks here, and the walls are paper thin so you hear everything going on next door. The academics seem ok but I dont' really have much for comparison. The professors are generally good here. Most of them also teach at surrounding colleges such as Syracuse or Hamilton, however they have big egos for their other schools and treat the students here as inferior. I thought I was the quiet type back at home but when you get here you actually question of people truly do live here. I seriously couldn't imagine trying to live here for four years. That is why i'm transfering in the spring. Trust me, don't make the same mistake I did coming here. Contact me by email and i'll tell you every other reason you don't want to be here.
