Major: Nursing (This Major's Salary over time)
I found the whole experience at Keiser College in Fort Lauderdale to one of the worst I have ever experienced. 99 percent of my classmates were cold, cliquish, unfriendly.. reminding me of bullies in a schoolyard. I had a gut feeling the first two months that this was not going to be a good experience but I hung in there because I wanted to get the nursing license. That was a mistake! The clinical experience was a complete joke…In 12 months of clinicals I only had one teacher do meds with me once and another watch me give an injection- the rest of the time they assign you to a hospital nurse who is supposed to teach you. Then a new director came in and said I was clinically unsafe and needed to start over from the beginning(even though I made As and Bs up to that point!) and Mr. Keiser said the same thing and said I need to pay for it again too! The lab, which the state of florida requires nursing schools to have, was virtually nonexistent.. although they say they have a lab, just try to get a teacher to be there for it.. it was always locked after school with teachers either nowhere to be found or giving an excuse to come back another time. This school is overpriced 10x the normal school and the education and experience is 10x worse than the cheaper ones. Basically, if you like teaching yourself everything and don't really need instruction, go for it. Otherwise, save your money and go to the state schools.
