Where do I even begin? USF isn't exactly the worst school in the world, however, it is far, far, FAR from the best. As an out-of-state student paying out-of-state tution, I feel like I am getting ripped-off BIG TIME. First off, the classes are way over-crowded. You almost never get the classes you want and trust me, you'll never graduate in 4 years (unless you're very lucky). They call it UStayForever for a reason ya know. Secondly, If you're worried about getting in, you shouldn't be; USF has a tendency to admit anyone with a pulse. I know a girl who had, no joke, a combined score of 900 on her SATs and she got in. I honestly find that insulting. Another thing is, many of the teachers can't speak english to save their lives, especially in the math department. Also, many of the classes are taught by TAs and grad students. And parking is a NIGHTMARE.The adminstration is even worse. I think a group of trained monkeys could run this place better. They're very disorganized and no one, in any department it seems, knows what the hell is going on. One day I had to call one department and was transferred about 5xs to other departments just to end up at the department I orginally called! Oh, and don't expect much in the way of finacial aid. USF is stingy, stingy with giving that out. Also, tution goes up every year it seems, especially when Judy Genshaft (the college pres) gets a raise (which, is like, every semester). I think she gets paid more than the pres of the US! Seriously!USF isn't located in the nicest (and def not the safest) part of town, either. Campus at night isn't that scary, but if you go off it, be very careful. Theres been muggings and peoples cars get broken into by people who wander onto campus many times. There isn't much to do unless you have a car, either. If you're looking for a college town, don't come here b/c Tampa and the area that USF is located, isn't college friendly. Theres Ybor (which at night is the club and bar district), but that gets old after awhile. Tampa itself is boring anyways. USF also isn't a big party school, so don't come here with that mindset.Don't get me wrong; I've met some of the greatest people here that I'll consider friends for life, but USF isn't for everyone (and def not for me!). I'll be transferring and leaving old USF behind, but if you decide to come here, GOOD LUCK.
