Wow, seems like you came to SLU with more intention to party than to learn. SLU above all else is an academic institution. There are plenty of social spaces for students to responsibly drink if you are of age and I am in my senior year at SLU and have not had many experiences of security stopping parties for no reason. |
Maybe spending some time learning to spell … and less worrying about where the next drink is coming from. |

St. Lawrence is my worst nightmare! I implore anyone that wants to go to St. Lawrence to please reconsider. St. Lawrence was a fun school a few years ago, however, over the past year the school has 'waged a war against ANY form of drinking or drug abuse.'I am a good student and have high expectations for myself, I am 19, male and in college (obviously), and I occasionally drink and expect to have a little fun in college. This, however, is not tolerated at St. Lawrence. My roommate and I were drinking in my dorm (YES, not in the hall or somewhere stupid, IN MY DORM ROOM) at 11pm on a Friday night with the music low, and security busted into our room without any warning. We were fined $75, had to take a AlcEdu class and do 20 hours of community service FOR OUR FIRST OFENCE!+ this goes on your perminat recordThen last week security said our room smelled of smoke (and even in the report they said that there was no beer, marijuana or paraphernalia), however we got written up because of suspicion. Two frats have been closed and the other two are so close to it that they refuse to host parties. EVER PARTY HAS BEEN BROKEN UP BEFORE 12 p.m. (which is when most parties get started in college). I am not friends with a single person who has not been written up AT LEAST onceI don’t want to be a raging alcoholic and I play sports so I don’t even drink that much. As for smoking; never done it in my entire life. I want to be able to drink once in a while however it is obvious St. Lawrence will not let this happen. Unless you are a sober and celibate you are going to hate this school…I’ve been here three months and I want to kill myself.Alternatives to St. Lawrence:Hobart William SmithCharlestonSyracuseColgate …..anywhere but in this ******* school in a ****** town in the middle of nowhere.11/8/2005
